Two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) enhances the security of your MyDrive account by requiring confirmation via the MyDrive app in addition to your password.
Who can enable 2FA?
- The main user or authorized users can enable two-factor authentication.
- Users cannot enable 2FA on their own.
- After the main user enables it, users set up 2FA using the MyDrive app.
Part 1: Setup by the Main User
Important:
2FA can only be enabled by the main user or authorized users – for themselves and for all additional users.
Step 1: Log in as the Main User
- Open a web browser and go to www.mydrive.ch.
- Log in as the main user.
Step 2: Enable 2FA

Open Settings.

Navigate to the 2FA menu item.

Select whether you want to enable 2FA:

for the main user or
-
you want to enable for one or more users.

- Enable 2FA for the desired username.
Step 3: Provide the activation code
- After activation, a personal activation code is generated.
- Provide this code to the respective user.
- Each user receives their own activation code.
Part 2: User Setup
After the primary user has enabled 2FA, the user sets up two-factor authentication themselves.
Step 1: Install the MyDrive app
- Install the MyDrive app on your smartphone
- Minimum version: version 12.7 or later
Step 2: Set up 2FA in the app
- Open the MyDrive app.
- Enter the activation code you received from the primary user in the Settings under 2FA Setup.
- Follow the instructions in the app to complete the setup.
From now on, you’ll need to confirm your login via the MyDrive app in addition to entering your password.

- MyDrive app (version 12.7 or later)
- Personal activation code (from the primary user)
Supported access methods and minimum versions
Two-factor authentication is supported by the following access methods:
- MyDrive Direct: Version 1.8 or later
- MyDrive Client: Version 3.0 or later
- MyDrive Sync: Version 5.9 or later
Note on Share Links

Shared links remain accessible without 2FA.
